The Gambia has a very young population, and
many young people struggle to find decent work. Limited opportunities push some
toward the "backway," the dangerous irregular migration route to
Europe, while others stay but feel left out of decisions. We invest in young
people as leaders and problem-solvers, so they can build their futures at home
and strengthen their communities.
What We Do
●
Skills and employment: Provide vocational training, apprenticeships, and job-readiness support
in fields such as agribusiness, solar energy, and digital skills.
●
Youth entrepreneurship: Offer business training, mentoring, and links to finance for young
entrepreneurs, with a focus on young women.
●
Leadership and civic
participation: Support youth groups and kafo
networks, and create spaces for young people to take part in village
development committees, local planning, and community decision-making.
●
Safe choices and migration
awareness: Share honest information about irregular
migration risks, and support returnees with counselling, reintegration, and
livelihood opportunities.
●
Community action and wellbeing: Back youth-led projects such as clean-ups, tree planting, sports,
arts, and volunteering, alongside life skills and mental health support.
Our Goal
Confident, skilled young people with real
opportunities to earn, lead, and contribute to thriving communities across The
Gambia.
